HOT SUMMER GIVEAWAY - WORTH ALMOST $565!
As I mentioned before, my magazine had a huge beauty sale so now you have the chance to win all of these items of which I spent a total of $44. All proceeds from the beauty sale went to Sloan-Kettering’s Pediatric Cancer Care so my $44 was well spent.
Why do I do this? Because I really do get a huge kick out of doing nice things for people. Those closest to me will tell you that. And, really, because people should know what it feels like to work at a magazine where awesome things like beauty sales are a regular occurrence.
How do you win? 1. Follow me. 2. Reblog this post. 3. Feel free to unfollow me after the giveaway winner is announced as I don’t do this for the followers. FYI, reblogging this post multiple times will NOT increase your chances of winning.
How will the winner be chosen? Random.org.
When will the winner be announced? Tuesday, June 7 at 9 PM. But please note that you only have until 8 PM on June 7 to reblog before I close the contest so I can pick the winner.
What hidden costs are there? NONE. I will even mail this entire beauty bundle to the lucky winner at no cost to them.
The following items are all included in this bigger-than-Kim-Kardashian’s-diamond Hot Summer Giveaway. Please note that I list shade names where applicable and tried to give links to the exact item. Being the only one to show up to kettlebell class, and thus getting a one-on-one training session. Particularly the end-of-class stretching part, since he’s also a massuse. Woot.

TODAY’S WORKOUT SONG:
Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah) - Joan Jett & The Blackhearts
was canceled today. But they did not tell me that, so I biked all the way to Dupont EAAAAAARRRRRRRLLLLLLLY in the morning to find out. #SADFACE.
I got some coffee and a spinach wrap and read a little at Starbucks, and then sat in the steam room at the gym and showered and went to work. I know; I know; I should have used that time to work out. Oops. Hopefully I at least sweat out some pollen. My allergies have been attacking me like crazy.
Random note: I kind of want to cancel my gym membership these days, and take my tour of the city with fitness-related Groupons, running outside, etc… but it really is convenient to have the available showers (and saunas!)… Maybe next month though after I’m done with the Kettlebell. Most places do have showers… I can always join again in the winter if need be.

woohoo! Living Social is having a deal today in Washington, DC for Balance Gym. You can get unlimited CrossFit for $59 for a month, or unlimited gym & classes (including yoga with my favorite yogi) for $20.
I went with the Crossfit! Adventures to come, for sure. :)
(Just a thought: you fitblr August folks could use the $20 one for a week at Balance Gym.)

Woohoo! Made it to a 6:30am kettlebell class. Biked there, actually. (Only about 15-20 minutes, so not a workout, but a perfect way to wake up!)
It was a lot of fun; I really liked the instructor; and I’m looking forward to my Thursday morning class.
Oops. Weight loss fail, workout fail. I haven’t run really much at all since my 10k, which was hardly in April. I did get new running shoes, though! I only give myself points for introducing a new bike to work (and everywhere else) trend into my life. Good stuff.
I tried to do the kettlebell classes, but it took the guy a while to call back to schedule them! And then last week I overslept… 6:30 am though, Tuesday and Thursday. Woohoo! Guess it’s revoloving over to the May goal list… which I shall write momentarily.

I was supposed to go to a kettlebell class at 630 this morning… but I overslept. I woke up at 530 and was like “eeeeh no way I can get there in time unless I leave right now and that seems too hard.” So I rolled back over.
That’s what I get for not packing my clothes up like I know I should the night before. Called to schedule another one though.

I haven’t updated in a while, but… I’ve been busy. Sorry. (Not working out. Sorry about that too.)
But! I’m 10000% enjoying my bikeshare membership, and biked to work this morning! I have my own bike, but with uncertain weather and one really horrible San Fran-style hill at the end of the trip home, I’ve never really considered riding to work.
But this way I can do it one way! I actually rode most of the way home yesterday, since it was SO beautiful, but I stopped about a mile from home before said hill, and took the metro 2 stops.
Anyway, I did it the whole 7 miles this morning, and it was a blast! The 15th St. bike lane is so great — a two-way bike path blocked from traffic by parked cars. It goes all the way down to the White House, and then picks up around the side… and then I hop on the Mt. Vernon trail to go bythe Washington Monument, around the Tidal Basin and past the Jefferson, and then over the 14th Street bridge, with the smell of the Potomac in the air. The trail hugs the water and rolls right into Crystal City.
I was a little red-faced, but a-ok. It took me about 50 minutes to ride the whole thing, and saved me $2 of metro fare!
I think I’m going to start keeping track of every time I bike to work and save $2…
